The Winter King starring Simon Merrells and Gabriel Tierney is now available to stream on ITVX.
Based on Bernard Cornwell’s trilogy of novels The Warlord Chronicles, The Winter King is a historical fiction series which tells the story of Arthur Pendragon and his rise to power despite his illegitimacy. The story is told through the eyes of a former worrier, now turned monk. Taking place in Dark Age Britain, a child-king sits on the throne whilst the Saxons make their attempt at overthrowing him. Meanwhile the banished Arthur plots his attempt at regaining power through his expert leadership.
The series stars Iain De Caestecker as Arthur Pendragon, and our Simon Merrells’ as power-hungry rival leader Gundleus. Our Gabriel Tierney also stars as Tristan prince of Kernow, the soon to be king who supports Arthur’s rise to power.
